VIRTUAL | EDUCATOR WORKSHOPS | SUMMER 2022
Ready, Set, Code! Teaching the new Ontario coding curriculum
Get prepared for the new Ontario coding curriculum by building skills, knowledge and confidence.
U of T Engineering Outreach is offering free, live online sessions for teachers interested in learning how to approach the new coding elements in the Ontario 1–8 curriculum. These workshops will be led by our K-12 STEM Educator in Residence along with an experienced classroom educator and expert in digital education technology. These sessions will introduce participants to the basics of coding and provide instruction, insight and support as to how these new additions can be integrated into classrooms.
Through these workshops, you will:
- Be connected with an evolving community of educators.
- Provided with materials, lesson plans and real-world examples of both plugged and unplugged instruction in coding.
- Ongoing support after the sessions to keep you and your students challenged.
Who Are These Workshops For?
These free workshops are for Ontario educators. They were designed for both complete beginners looking to get a handle on these new elements, as well as those with coding experience who want concrete suggestions and examples of how it can be used in classrooms. These sessions will feature material for both in-person and remote learning configurations.
These sessions are aimed primarily at teachers. We will be offering modified sessions for parents who want to learn more about the new coding curriculum. They can be found on our Parents' Workshops page.
Please note: these workshops will be the same content as those previously offered in Winter 2021, so it may not be as useful for those who attended in the past. However, if you would like a refresher on the Coding curriculum, you are welcome to attend again!
