Hazem grew up in Cairo, Egypt where he studied at a German school. Because he loved engineering and science he joined the University of Toronto as an undergraduate student in the Engineering Science program where he later took the “Engineering Physics” option. Upon graduating he joined the physics department at the University of Toronto where he researches how light interacts with molecules at the tiniest length and time scales. When not doing physics Hazem likes to read, travel, play soccer and explore other cultures. He was part of the University of Toronto Varsity track team. Hazem also has a passion for communicating science in a simple way and simplifying complex ideas, a passion that he hopes to convey in the course he will teach.
