Yasamin Kazemi is a postdoctoral fellow at University of Toronto’s Mechanical Engineering Department. Yasamin’s research is focused on the processing and characterization of advanced functional materials made from polymers and composites. She received her Ph.D. in the same field from University of Toronto in 2018. During her Ph.D., Yasamin had the chance to work on cutting-edge research topics including advanced manufacturing and smart polymers and composite materials. Besides her research, Yasamin is also enthusiastic about art, history, and travelling. Combining her two passions, engineering and history, Yasamin came up with the idea for a new course for this program to study the history of engineering. The goal of this course is to make engineering more interesting and to encourage the development of an engineering self-identity among students interested in pursuing this career.
