Destination Engineering is an interactive online workshop series with exciting, hands-on activities to immerse your child in the exciting world of engineering! This four course program is designed to engage students in Grades 3-5 to broaden their exposure to a multitude of Engineering fields.

Topics that will be covered within the program sessions may include:

  • Biomedical Engineering
  • Civil Engineering
  • Chemical Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering

These sessions aim to provide students with a comfortable and approachable setting within which they can learn to appreciate the intricacies and importance of modern engineering and its applications in many facets of our society. Participants will use common household items to prototype and explore the Engineering Design Process.

Session Details

Session 1: Mighty Machines (capacity: 20 students)

May 8 & 15, 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM

We live in mighty cities and ride in mighty vehicles, all built with the help of mighty machines. You will learn about the basic mechanical principles and logic that goes into making the clever machines that power human civilization, from the various corners of engineering developed throughout the ages.

Session 2: Medical Miracles (capacity: 20 students)

May 8 & 15, 2:30 PM - 4:30 PM

The modern age is full of many wonders, but few are taken for granted more than the medical marvels that humanity benefits from in today’s age. Learn the medical milestones in human history, from vaccines to surgical practices, that have enabled us to live longer and safer lives, and allowed us to push the limits of human endurance further and further than ever before.

Session 3: Building Structures (capacity: 20 students)

May 29 & June 5, 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM

From pyramids to buildings that scrape the sky, humans have always set their sights high. Explore how humanity has attempted to satiate it’s hunger to build bigger and better than before, learning from its mistakes in history and developing new engineering practices to create structures that will last for generations to come.

Session 4: Underwater Discovery (capacity: 20 students)

May 29 & June 5, 2:30 PM - 4:30 PM

Covering most of the Earth, the sea holds many mysteries that we still haven’t discovered or solved today. Learn the exciting principles behind engineering and designing underwater vessels that enable the exploration of the vast deep ocean, and the many secrets that we have uncovered so far with the help of brave explorers and sharp engineers.
