Virtual Minecraft: Build, Design, Discover!

The Engineering Outreach Office's Minecraft program aims to improve students' digital literacy skills through Minecraft: Education Edition. Students in Grades 5-6 will experience world-building, level design, and explore code within the game itself. This four-week course is designed for beginners new to Minecraft and will explore step-by-step the procedures of the engineering design process in-game as students learn to navigate their way through their virtual world. They will apply their critical thinking and collaboration skills to build and develop interactive in-game prototypes that address real-world problems. Students will work in a team environment and explore concepts such as block programming, variables, and loops, with a focus on components, objectives, functions and critical thinking level design. Students will engage in fun competitions that encourage cooperation and exploration as they discover how levels and challenges are developed and work to make connections to real-world issues through their simulated worlds.

Two (2) Minecraft workshops run concurrently to support access to this popular program. All times are in Eastern Daylight Time. (EDT) (UTC-4).
